Trail Ridge Road crosses alpine tundra for 77 km with panoramic viewpoints. Bear Lake, Emerald Lake and Sky Pond are iconic hikes. Abundant wildlife: elk, bighorn sheep, bears. Estes Park, at the entrance, hosts the Stanley Hotel (inspiration for Stephen King's The Shining). Trail Ridge closed Nov–May.
