The Itinerary

Crater Lake, formed when Mt. Mazama collapsed 7,700 years ago, is the deepest lake in the US (594 m) and one of the bluest in the world. Crystal-clear water fed only by rain and snow.

Rim Drive (54 km) hugs the crater edge with 30+ viewpoints. Wizard Island (volcanic island in the middle), Phantom Ship (rock formation), Watchman Peak (2-km trail to panoramic view). En route from Portland: Multnomah Falls (America's second-highest year-round waterfall, 189 m), Bend (breweries) and Smith Rock State Park (climbing).
